Develop integration blueprint for ICT systems

Application

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to document and to maintain the details of the technology, and architectural components, incorporated into the integration blueprint for an information and communications technology (ICT) system.

It applies to individuals in senior roles in the development environment, who are required to integrate a series of components.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria

ELEMENT

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Elements describe the essential outcomes.

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element.

1. Review the technical architecture documents

1.1 Review the technical architecture documents, supplemented with discussions where necessary

1.2 Identify, and evaluate, technical considerations that cover the overall requirements and provide the best technical fit against requirements

1.3 Update the integration blueprint according to best-fit technical specifications

2. Undertake compatibility tests

2.1 Assemble components and component technologies, according to design specifications

2.2 Test the components for functionality, against design specifications

2.3 Identify non-compliance, against technical specifications

2.4 Update the integration blueprint to reflect functionality and non-compliance changes

3. Assess the risk areas

3.1 Identify the scope of the modifications required from the compatibility test

3.2 Negotiate the modifications required with the suppliers, based on the outcomes of the compatibility test

3.3 Update the integration blueprint to reflect modifications to risk areas

4. Assess readiness for stress testing

4.1 Continue integration activities until the platform is stable

4.2 Evaluate the platform's compliance with technical requirements

4.3 Update the integration blueprint for stress testing

Evidence of Performance

Evidence of the ability to:

review technical architecture documentation and update the integration blueprint

undertake component compatibility testing and update the integration blueprint accordingly

assess the risk of possible modifications and update the integration blueprint accordingly

stabilise the platform, assess compliance with the technical requirements and update the integration blueprint.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

Evidence of Knowledge

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

identify the sources of technology suppliers and components

outline contemporary industry development and design methodologies

identify and describe, industry-accepted hardware and software products, features, and capabilities

identify and describe, industry-accepted testing procedures

describe the principles of stress load testing.

Assessment Conditions

Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the programming and software development industry, and include access to:

design specifications

a high-level, diagrammatic view of the main system components.

Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.

Foundation Skills

This section describes language, literacy, numeracy and employment skills incorporated in the performance criteria that are required for competent performance.

Skill

Performance Criteria

Description

Reading

1.1

Interprets, and critically analyses, complex texts and applies appropriate strategies, to construct meaning from complex texts when reviewing technical architecture documents

Writing

1.3, 2.4, 3.3, 4.3

Communicates complex relationships between ideas and information, matching the style of writing to the purpose and audience

Displays a knowledge of structure and layout, employing a broad vocabulary, grammatical structure and the conventions appropriate to text

Oral communication

1.1, 3.2

Demonstrates flexibility in spoken texts by choosing appropriate structures and strategies

Applies appropriate strategies to extract main ideas from oral texts when having discussions to supplement documentation and when negotiating modifications with suppliers

Interact with others

3.2

Participates in complex formal and informal conversations relevant to own role, initiating and taking the lead where appropriate, in relation to negotiating with suppliers

Get the work done

All

Uses a combination of formal, logical planning processes, and an increasingly intuitive understanding of context to identify relevant information and risks, and identify, and evaluate, alternative strategies and resources

Uses systematic, analytical processes in complex, non-routine situations, setting goals, gathering relevant information, and identifying and evaluating options against agreed criteria

Uses analytical processes to decide on a course of action, establishing the criteria for deciding between options

Demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of principles, concepts, language and practices associated with the digital world
